Three Days of Rain
Three days of Rain tells of two generations and the interpretation of the older generation by the younger generation.
The play centres around Walker, his sister Nan and their friend Pip. The three are linked by their fathers who were in business together. Walker and Nan’s father, Ned, and Pip’s father, Theo, owned and architect business in New York.
Following their deaths the younger generation must divide their assents including their legacy of a 1960s house in New York. In their attempt to discover the wishes of their parents they find Ned’s diary. The diary reveals some truths of their lives and the woman in these two men’s lives over a brief period entitled three days of rain. The two generations are played by the same actor as McAvoy plays both Walker and Ned and Harman plays both Pip and Theo.
The play was produced in 1997 and premiered at the Manhattan Theatre Club. It has enjoyed great success in America including boasting Julia Roberts amongst its past cast. The play opened on the West End on Tuesday 10th February 2009 and is expected to run until Saturday 2nd May 2009. The cast line up is sure to attract interest as McAvoy has enjoyed great success in Atonement.
